The brand new fresh distribution center in Deventer has received the BREEAM-NL sustainability certificate with Excellent score. Sustainability requirements played an important role in the development of the new distribution center. For example, the building and surrounding grounds have been designed to be circular and nature-inclusive. There is also an in-house solar power system of over 14,000 solar panels.
Björn Bertrand, Real Estate Director PLUS, Tony Vendrig, Supply Chain Director PLUS, Adriaan Molenschot, Managing Director of developer HVBM Vastgoed and Willem van der Meijden Commercial, Director of HVBM Vastgoed, received the certificate from Roy Bruggeman of architect and BREEAM Expert Quadrant4.
Björn Bertrand: “From the beginning we wanted to realize a distribution center that not only brings more efficiency, but also meets high sustainability requirements. This BREEAM certification shows that we have succeeded well in that aim, thanks in part to all building partners.”
High sustainability requirements Perhaps the most obvious sustainability measure is the company’s own solar power system of more than 14,000 solar panels. They have an installed capacity of 8 MWp, generating over 7 million kWh of solar power annually. For employees, PLUS created a pleasant and attractive working environment, with plenty of daylight and a nice climate. In addition, a score of 100% was achieved in the area of waste management and high efforts were made to save water. Particular attention was paid to landscaping and nature inclusiveness. The interior finishing materials used have minimal emissions of harmful substances. All in all, this resulted in this a BREEAM Excellent score.
